Platform Terms for Restaurants
Last updated: August 8, 2026
These terms govern your restaurant's use of the Zikiti platform — the partner portal, the staff terminal, your listing, and this site. Your commercial terms (commission, minimums, founding-partner conditions, exit terms) live in the Partnership Agreement you sign during onboarding; where that agreement and this page differ, the signed agreement wins.
Scope, and what prevails
By using the partner portal or listing your restaurant on Zikiti, you — the business, through its authorized representatives — agree to these terms. The signed Partnership Agreement is the governing commercial document; these platform terms sit underneath it and cover day-to-day use of the software.
Accounts and staff access
Owner and manager accounts require two-factor authentication on every sign-in — that’s not optional, because these accounts see money. Floor staff sign in with your restaurant code and an individual PIN, and see only the live service board and today’s bookings.
- You are responsible for actions taken under your restaurant’s accounts.
- Keep the restaurant code and PINs confidential, and deactivate staff who leave — the roster is self-serve in the portal.
- Staff PINs identify individuals because tips are attributed per person; don’t share PINs between staff.
Your listing and your offers
Keep your hours, menu, photos, and details accurate — diners book against them. You must hold the rights to any photos you upload. The discount schedule you publish is a real offer: a diner who books an hour at a stated saving gets that saving. Reservation discounts are yours to set within your agreed minimum; the walk-in rate is set with Zikiti at onboarding and changed through a request from your dashboard.
Bookings are real tables
A confirmed Zikiti booking consumes real capacity you published, and you agree to honour it. If you must cancel a booking, the diner gets their cover back whatever the timing — released if it was still a hold, refunded from your account if it had already been collected. Covers are collected 45 minutes before every booking and paid to you; if the diner turns up and settles through Zikiti it is credited against their bill, and if they don’t turn up you keep it. Zikiti takes no part of it either way.
Payments and payouts
Payouts run through Stripe Connect, directly to your bank account — Zikiti never holds your money. Onboarding with Stripe, including its identity and banking verification, is a condition of going live. The Zikiti platform fee is charged to the diner and never touches your payout.
Card processing, stated in full. A card-processing charge of 3.15% of the total amount charged to the diner, plus $0.30, is deducted from each payout. The total amount charged to the diner is the bill, less the saving you set, plus any tip, plus the Zikiti platform fee. Your payout is therefore:
(bill − saving) + tip − card processing
Worked example on a $100.00 bill with a 15% saving and an 18% tip: the diner is charged $105.25 ($100.00 − $15.00 + $18.00 + $2.25). Card processing is 3.15% of $105.25 plus $0.30 = $3.62. Your payout is $100.00 − $15.00 + $18.00 − $3.62 = $99.38. The $2.25 platform fee is the diner’s and forms no part of this calculation.
This charge is a pass-through of the fees Zikiti is itself charged by Stripe — currently Stripe’s published Canadian card rate of 2.9% plus a 0.25% Connect fee on split payouts, plus $0.30 per transaction. It is set to recover that cost and Zikiti retains no part of it and adds no margin to it. It is a single blended rate applied to every transaction: on a card that costs Stripe’s standard domestic rate it recovers that cost closely, and on a card attracting additional network charges — international cards, currency conversion, or manually-entered cards — the actual cost is higher and Zikiti absorbs the difference. It is not represented as an exact per-transaction reproduction of Stripe’s fee.
The rate is shown in your portal and may be changed on 30 days’ written notice, or sooner where Stripe or a card network changes its own pricing, in which case we will give you as much notice as we ourselves receive. Any change applies only to transactions settled after it takes effect.
If a diner’s payment declines at settlement, you may charge the guest directly for the bill less any cover charge already held — the portal shows you that exact number.
Tips belong to your staff
100% of every tip paid through Zikiti belongs to the staff member the transaction is attributed to. Zikiti takes no share, and tip amounts are passed to you in your payout strictly for distribution to that person. You are responsible for distributing tips in accordance with applicable law, including Ontario’s employment standards rules on tips and gratuities.
Verification documents
Going live requires a valid business licence, insurance, and banking confirmation. Keep them current and tell us if any lapses. Documents are stored encrypted in a private vault; every access is through a short-lived link and is logged. See the partner privacy policy for detail.
Diner information you receive
The portal shows you the diner information needed to run a service: names, party sizes, booking details, bills, and tips. Use it only to fulfil those bookings and services. You may not use diners’ personal information for your own marketing, or share it, without their own consent — and you are independently responsible for complying with Canadian privacy law in how you handle it.
Suspension and ending
We may suspend a listing or account for breach of these terms, suspected fraud, lapsed verification documents, or where a platform-wide pause is necessary for safety or security. Amounts already owed to you are paid out on Stripe’s normal schedule regardless. Ending the partnership itself is governed by the Partnership Agreement.
Responsibility and liability
The meal is yours: food safety, allergens, licensing, staff, and premises are your responsibility, and you agree to cover us against claims arising from them. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with the platform is limited to the platform fees Zikiti earned on transactions at your restaurant in the 12 months before the claim arose, and neither side is liable to the other for indirect or consequential losses.
Governing law and contact
Ontario law governs, and disputes belong to the courts of Ontario — after a genuine attempt to resolve things directly first: support@zikiti.com. Zikiti Ltd., Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
